As the UK’s leading waterstruck brick supplier, we have been a part of many great projects, and we are delighted to have finished 2022 on the up. The projects we have been involved with throughout the year made us realise how fortunate we are to take part in evolving the UK landscape. With over 40 years of experience in guiding architectural decisions, we have been positioned at the forefront of the construction industry.
Reminiscing on this fantastic year, we have been a part of many construction projects that sit very close to our hearts.
Firstly, we are thrilled to have been able to be involved inThe Island Quarter project. This spectacular construction project is set to include 1,600 homes, 20 restaurants, bars, and cafés, as well as 6,000 office jobs. Phase 1 of Binks Yard and Cleaver & Wake is already open and includes a three-storey, canal-side destination. We are glad to have supplied bricks to support opening up 36 acres of Nottingham, reimagined by international architecture firm Leonard Design Architects and placemaking specialists Studio Egret West. We cannot wait to see the next phases coming to life.
Next, we would like to look back at the Camley Street project in Northwest London. Occupying a significant location near King’s Cross, Camley Street will provide 30,000 sqft of a new purpose-built, flexible office space, alongside 121 new homes, using our Levan Linear brick. The significant and high-end apartment building is designed by Hutchinson & Partners and combines vertical and horizontal bonding of our UK long-format (Ultima) bricks in numerous shades of grey. We’re so pleased to see this modern and magnificent piece of art rising from the ground.
The last highlight of the year has to be the Boulevard WharfNottingham project, this is a university accommodation in Nottingham. We supplied MAS Architecture and Stepnell Construction with our Mapleton Multi brick, the best brick possible to construct this accommodation. Being a solid F2 brick (fully frost resistant) gives it an advantage to projecting brickwork as the frog in the brick is not visible. Moreover, the brick colour of the façade looks beautiful when reflecting off Nottingham Canal.
This project has been awarded Silver Winner in the Project of the Year up to £10 million category at the National Building & Construction Awards 2021 and was a finalist in the Constructing Excellence East Midlands Offsite Award 2021 and Façade Awards UK 2021 in the Best New Build Project Category.
While 2022 presented challenges to everyone, we are extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to work on these projects alongside many others such as housing projects. Our bricks can be seen on builds across the country - and that is a fact we have been proud of for the last 40 years. We wish all our partners and customers the best as we advance into 2023 and look forward to some more great projects in 2023!
